There are two new events on the schedule I would like to tell you more about. The Jeff Bailey Memorial Fishing Tournament is a City-sponsored event designed to honor the career of Jeff Bailey. Mr. Bailey had over two decades of service to the City of Inman. He had three passions in his life: family, fishing, and Inman. It is the hope of the organizing committee that this event can celebrate all three. Cartoberfest is also new to our fall line-up. The city has partnered with Autowerks SC to bring a unique car event to Inman. The 300+ cars will be on display downtown, with car owners displaying their cars in what is known as a “drive-in” event. We will also have a German-inspired bier garden, food, and music. To register a car please call 864-310-4995.
The City of Inman staff is growing. Currently, we are interviewing for a new Zoning Administrator. Dennis Staton will be retiring from his position after ten years of service in September. We are thankful to Dennis for all of his hard work for the City. Also, we will be advertising the new position of Economic Development Manager in August. This job will oversee the implementation of our master plan for downtown, business recruitment, and directing the process of having our downtown recognized as a historic district. If you have not, we encourage you to review our master plan at www.cityofinman.org. Finally, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Inman as our Sewer Superintendent. Lee has been a valuable member of our City team for many years and we’re excited to see him move into this new position.
