First Annual Harvest Day Challenge Run
The Greater Inman Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the FIRST ANNUAL HARVEST DAY CHALLENGE RUN on Saturday, September 26, 2015 beginning at 8 AM. This is being held in conjunction with the annual Harvest Day Festival in downtown Inman, South Carolina.
The challenge run of approximately 3.1 miles is along a large portion of the Inman link of the PALMETTO TRAIL. It will begin in the lower rear parking lot of Chapman High School near the football stadium, which is the lowest point in elevation of the race. After gradually climbing through open fields on a country road, the route abruptly climbs 145 feet in elevation to ascend Windmill Hill, the third highest point in Spartanburg County at 1,171 feet above sea level. The peak marks the half-way point along the route and offers panoramic views of the Appalachian Mountains and downtown Spartanburg before the 183 foot descent in elevation back to the finish line. The total gain ascent of this course is 226 feet.
